Instead of pushing yourself to an impossible “perfect,” and therefore getting nowhere, accept “good.” Many things worth doing are worth doing badly.

Cooks for Kids at Ronald McDonald House
The Cooks for Kids (CFK) Meal Providers program at Ronald McDonald House in St. Paul is a fun, flexible group volunteer opportunity that makes an enormous difference in the lives of families with seriously-ill children.
Eagan Kick Start Rotary will send a team of volunteers to plan, prepare and serve buffet style meals to Ronald McDonald House families at the Ronald McDonald Family Room located inside Children's Hospitals & Clinics of MN, St. Paul. After a long day at their child’s bedside, families tell us that a hot meal served by friendly volunteers is a highlight of their day.
Check out the Event Calendar for more details or to volunteer!
Kick-Start Honors Paul Harris Fellows
Quick! What do Kick-Start Rotarians Scott Erickson and Dave Verbeke have in common with Boris Yeltsin, Jonas Salk, Jimmy Carter, and Mother Teresa? All are Paul Harris Fellows - individuals who have contributed, or have had contributions made in their name, totaling $1000 to The Rotary Foundation. This recognition was established in 1957 to show appreciation for and encourage substantial contributions to the foundation. Since then over one million Paul Harris Fellows have been recognized. If you want to see your progress toward this goal, go to My Rotary and navigate first to Profile and then Donor History Report.
Thank you for all you do Scott and Dave!

Kick-Start Volunteers at The Open Door
On Thursday Dec. 7 Eagan Kick-Start has committed to providing a team of six (or seven!) volunteers to The Open Door to assist in client grocery shopping and checkout. Clients arrive beginning at 5:30pm; volunteers should arrive 20-30 minutes early for orientation.
Our November effort resulted in our six volunteers shopping, weighing, logging, and loading 1220 lbs. of groceries for 24 families!
Spouses/partners are welcome. Sign up electronically on Clubrunner.
One Rotary Summit Ideation
Eagan Kick-Start Rotary sent three representatives to the One Rotary Summit on Sep. 15 at the Earle Brown Heritage Center. Follow the link for the raw notes transcribed from the ideas generated that day. District 5950 will ultimately create a “toolkit” that offers a step by step approach to some of the ideas. As you use or implement ideas, please let Tom Gump know your experience.
Together we can move ideas to action.
Beer, Fun, and Inspiration with TreeHouse

Numerous Kick-Start Rotarians joined TreeHouse at Bald Man Brewing for beer, food, live music, and inspirational words of love, hope, and transformation from those who serve at and attend TreeHouse in Eagan. TreeHouse raised over $40,000 to support at-risk teens in our community.

Special thanks to Kick-Start's own Scott Erickson for helping to organize and publicize the event!

Share Your Inspiration!
For me, one of the highlights of each meeting is hearing those pearls of wisdom that each of our members finds inspirational.
So I want to try something new - email your inspiration to me after each meeting and I will use it as a header for Kick-Start News the following week.
Gives those who missed it a chance to see it and those who heard it a moment for further reflection. Thanks!
