Eagan High School Interact Club hosts event at Feed My Starving Children
EHS Interact Club has selected a date for an Interact Club/ Feed My Starving Children event. We are packing meals from 2:30 – 4:30 on Monday October 10.
We will need some adult volunteers to join us. I have passed this message along to several Rotary club members I know that I thought might be interested. I am hoping for 40-50 kids which would mean 8 – 10 adults volunteering. Are any of you available and interested? It has been super fun in the past.
Rotarians that are interested, please email Bill Wirsbinski, EHS Interact Coordinator at William.Wirsbinski@district196.org
Treehouse is a metro-wide 501(c)(3) wired into the large public high schools. With the help of guidance counselors and social workers, Treehouse identifies and reaches out to youth struggling mightily with addictions, dysfunctional families, bullying, etc. Treehouse helps youth rebuild their lives, stay in school and focus on serving others. Check out the record of success at www.treehouseyouth.org. It's amazing work!
The event will be held October 3rd, 630-830 pm at Vivo Kitchen in Apple Valley. provided free will be heavy hors d' oeurves, good wine, and music by Thick Friends. That will be the fun! TreeHouse director, Paul Maloney, will deliver the message about Treehouse' work, and we hope to stir up some generosity with an ask for a free-will offering...a very simple approach. We want to fill Vivo with 100+ generous souls. 100% of the money raised will go to Treehouse to help youth!
Volunteers Needed to Help IHCC Students with the Career Path
Inver Hills Community College and Eagan Kick Start Rotary Club will be hosting a Career Dar at IHCC on Tuesday October 25 from 11 to 2 on the campus. We need volunteers to speak in small group breakout sessions to talk about their career path and how they have become the professional that they are. The goal is to help students see beyond college and what the future could be for them. All types of careers can be represented at the breakout session. We want to engage the student to keep making progress to a college degree and help them see the payoff for their hard work. See either Eric Swanson or Dave Verbeke to volunteer. We are looking for speakers in the following areas:
- Business/Management/Administration
- Agriculture/Food/Natural Resources
- Arts/Communications/Information Systems
- Engineering/Manufacturing/Technology
- Health Science Technology
- Human Services
Speakers do not need to be Rotarians so if you know of someone else that may be good for this please extend the invite.
