Eagan Kick-Start Rotary celebrated the induction of Angie Cunningham at our March 1 meeting.
Angie grew up Maple Grove (before there was anything in Maple Grove), went to Wayzata High School, and attended the College of St. Benedict. She has been worked at Thomson Reuters for 27 years in a variety of positions, currently the Director of Product Management Operations.
Angie lives in Eagan and has two children: Charlie (23) works at United Health as an underwriter, and Margaret (20) is a junior at the University of WI La Crosse studying biology and pre-PA.

The North Star Youth Exchangeencompasses Rotary Districts 5950 and 5960 in southern Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. Chair Mike DeLuca reports that at the recent North American Youth Exchange Network Conference, the North Star program was presented a Gold Award as a high performing district. In addition, at the annual award banquet North Star was presented this year’s outstanding district in all of North America. Our program was noted for our growth in long term students, our new short term program, our unique one-way inbound programs that have received international recognition, our programs to help disadvantaged students be exchange students, our commitment to diversity and inclusion, and our organization structure that is a model for many districts. Hundreds of volunteers have made North Star what it is today. Thank you for all you do to support Rotary exchange students.
On Thursday Apr 5 Eagan Kick-Start has committed to providing a team of 6-7 volunteers to The Open Door to assist in client grocery shopping and checkout. Clients arrive beginning at 5:30pm; volunteers should arrive 20 minutes early for orientation. Spouses/partners are welcome.
This is a busy time of year at The Open Door; please consider volunteering if you can, thanks!
As your President Elect, I was able to attend the North Central President-Elect Training Seminar in Rochester, MN. Our theme for the 2018/19 year is "Be the Inspiration." The weekend lived up to the new theme. I was INSPIRED by speakers who shared their Rotary passion and experience. I learned skills to improve our club and INSPIRE ways to promote Rotary in our community. I have a better understanding of the power of the Rotary Foundation and hope to INSPIRE our club to action. Eagan Kick-Start Rotary was well represented as our President Elect Nominee Mike Supina attended as well.
On Thursday March 8, eight Kick-Starters, friends, and spouses volunteered to serve dinner at the Dakota County Emergency Shelter currently at Easter Lutheran Church and operated by Matrix Housing Services. This piggybacked onto our club's December-January commitment to raise and contribute funds to sponsor one night of shelter operations.
Thank you, volunteers, for your willingness to serve!
Take a minute to think about what you are truly passionate about. Then, the next time you are among your Rotary friends, take a look around. The people you see are the horsepower ready and willing to turn your passion into action. Then take a look at the Rotary District 5950 Grants webpage. There awaits a pool of funds to do the same.
Helping to turn your passion into action is why we all meet each week. So develop your idea and harness the club to do what it does best!
