The Opioid Crisis

Bret Haake, MD, is the Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at Regions Hospital. He is also a neurologist and serves the Medical Director of the Neuroscience Division. Dr. Haake is from Minnesota and did his undergraduate work, medical school and residency at the University of Minnesota, where he is also now an Associate Professor of Neurology. Aside from his medical training, Dr. Haake completed his MBA in health care from the University of St. Thomas.

Dr. Haake’s roles include: Influencing strategy; patient and employee satisfaction and safety; physician issues; compliance and regulatory issues; facilitating research, education and fundraising; and assuring quality care.

Fun Fact: His favorite hobby is fishing. Even if he could travel anywhere in the world, his preference would be to stay in the region and enjoy local events or go fishing.

In addition to trying to improve health care, the most important thing in Dr. Haake’s life is his wife and four children.
