On July 9, 2019 Stefanie Horvath was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the Minnesota Army National Guard. Gen. Horvath is the second woman to achieve this rank in the Minnesota Army National Guard.
Horvath joined the National Guard in 1991 after graduating from Officer Candidate School. A native of Minot, she served in the North Dakota National Guard prior to joining the Minnesota National Guard in 1998. Horvath has deployed twice in her military career. During her deployment to Kosovo in 2003-04, Horvath was the only female in her battalion. She deployed again in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2009-10. Horvath is a 2013 Army War College graduate.
