Join the Eagan Foundation on this day of celebration: Thur 2/22 from 7:30-9:00am at the Lone Oak Grill.
Since 1990, the Eagan Foundation has contributed more than $1,000,000 to the Eagan community through student scholarships, local initiatives, and community grants.
The Eagan Foundation Community Grants Program is intended to directly benefit the Eagan community.
Grants are awarded only to nonprofit organizations, although an organization need not be formally incorporated or for general community benefit purposes.
The grant is to pay for things, not time or people.
Join us at Art Works Eagan, 3795 Pilot Knob Rd, on March 11 from 1pm-2:30pm to try a variety of salads, sides, main dishes, and treats celebrating Brazilian and Italian traditions. Proceeds from this buffet style meal will help fund travel for our foreign exchange students over Spring Breakin June.
When buying tickets, please select vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, or specify your dietary needs because we want YOU to be able to share a meal with the community.
This meal is brought to you by the 2017-2018 exchange students Isabelle França and Giovanni Arriciati with back-up by Rotary friends Ryan Murphy and Jerri Neddermeyer.
Save the date! The Open Door’s 9th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser will be held on Thursday, March 8 from 11am-2pm & 4:30pm-7:30pm at St. John Neumann Church in Eagan. During this event, guests choose a hand-crafted and hand-painted bowl, share a simple meal of soup and bread, place chances at the ART10 drawing, and make a donation to support The Open Door, your local food shelf serving families and individuals across Dakota County.
Monies raised will help stock the shelves with fresh and healthy foods.
Meanwhile our friends at the Eagan High School Interact Club, mentored by Bill Wirsbinski, have big plans for the $500 contributed by Kick-Start Rotary, including assembling birthday bags for clients of The Open Door.
Saturday Feb. 3 was an unparalleled day of service for Eagan Kick-Start Rotary during which a majority of our membership dedicated the day to serving neighbors in need. Nineteen of our members, plus additional friends and family members, bagged groceries at Eagan's Cub Foods stores to raise money for The Open Door, Eagan's food pantry. And a few liked it so much that they went back on Super Bowl Sunday to bag some more! Thanks friends!
On the same Saturday, four ADDITIONAL Kick-Start Rotarians plus family members and friends volunteered for the Days for Girls sewathon hosted by Kick-Start's own Karen Groves. They prepared hygiene kits for girls in parts of the world where feminine hygiene supplies are hard to come by. Thanks, friends, for all you do!
The subzero temperatures will not deter the Eagan High School Interact Club (mentored by Bill Wirskbinski) from a busy winter of service. Upcoming projects include:
Feed My Starving Children on 2/22/2018 from 2:30-4:30PM. Kick-Starters are invited to join.
Making about 50 fleece tied baby blankets out of polar fleece to donate to local shelters.
Making up to 200 birthday bags for The Open Door for which they will use Kick-Start's $500 donation for the materials.
Coat check at Eagan Rotary Gala on 2/10/2018.
Jeans/coat drive at Eagan High School on 2/21-22/2018.
Researching 363 event, making sandwiches in partnership with a local grocery store for eight homeless locations (tentative date is 2/20/18).
Kick-Start's Mary Nell Zellner will report periodically on Interact's activities and how Kick-Start can be of assistance.
Eagan Kick-Start Rotary has committed to sponsoring one night of the Emergency Winter Shelter when it locates to Easter Lutheran Church in Eagan 2/17-3/17/2018. All proceeds collected from Happy Bucks at our weekly meetings in December and January will be earmarked for this cause; the club will make up any shortfall.
