December began with a busy week for Kick-Starters! GUILD LADDER OF HOPE From Gary Hansen: Thank you to Kick-Start Club members for supporting the important work of Guild, Inc.! Several members attended the Dec. 5 Ladder of Hope luncheon and others joined in making donations. This year’s event attracted the greatest attendance of any in the five years that I have been involved as a Guild volunteer. We helped raise $353,724 – a record outcome for Ladder of Hope events! Thank you for supporting Guild’s work to “fill the gap” to help persons with mental illness lead quality lives. THE OPEN DOOR On Dec. 6, six volunteers helped to shop, weigh, log, and load over 1800 lbs of groceries for families in need - by far a record total for our group! Your donation of time has made a difference in the lives of 27 families as the holiday season is upon us. THE KICK-START HOLIDAY CHOIR Also on Dec. 6, a festive group of twelve talented Kick-Starters and Interact students, plus Gene, descended upon the Commons on Marice with abundant holiday cheer to share, some of it in musical form. Who knew the vocal and instrumental talent hiding in plain view among our morning breakfast crew? Thank you Carol Wirsbinski for organizing this fun event. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR DEDICATION TO OUR COMMUNITY!
Eagan's Rotary Clubs are sponsoring two foreign exchange students at Eagan High School during the 2018-19 school year. There are still opportunities to be a host family. Families of all types are suitable - with or without children, empty nesters, working or retired - but must live in the Eagan High School attendance boundary. If you or someone you know live within the Eagan High School attendance boundary and would consider hosting a student, please contact Nate Danielson at 612-499-0193 for more details.
Take a minute to think about what you are truly passionate about. Then, the next time you are among your Rotary friends, take a look around. The people you see are the horsepower ready and willing to turn your passion into action. Then take a look at the Rotary District 5950 Grants webpage. There awaits a pool of funds to do the same.
Helping to turn your passion into action is why we all meet each week. So develop your idea and harness the club to do what it does best!
